Camp Information
Ransburg Scout Reservation has 601 acres of rugged and heavily timbered
land on the south shore of beautiful Monroe Reservoir adjacent to the
Hoosier National Forest. Canoeing, boating, sailing, and a beach are
available. Ransburg is the Crossroads of America Council's Boy Scout long
term summer camp and as a result is often considered the "Home of
Firecrafter". It also offers troop camping during the year. Ransburg
has 16 campsites, explorer camp, a Family Camp, and a dining hall.
Ransburg also has a C.O.P.E. Course. The last Rituals held here were in
1997.
Driving Directions
- Take Highway 37 south from Indianapolis towards Bloomington.
- On the north side of Bloomington turn left on to State Road 46.
This is the bypass and will take you around Bloomington. Scenic
Note: On your right just after the turn you will see Indiana
University's Assembly Hall. Feel free to put your hand over your heart
out of respect or thumb your nose as you drive pass.
- Turn left (east) on State Road 46. This is Third Street in
Bloomington. Food & Scenery Notes: Just before this turn is
a White Castle on your left if you are hungry. Third Street also has a
variety of restaurants (I would recommend the Arby's on the North side
of the road and the Steak and Shake on the South side). The college mall
is also located on your right (the South side of the road). Follow this
road for approximately two miles.
- Turn right (south) on State Road 446. Follow this road for
10.1 miles. The camp gate will be on the right at top of the hill after
you cross the causeway. Just keep following the gravel road - the camp
parking lot is back there but it is a few minutes drive.
