Community Service Project - 2007

In 2007, Scoutmaster Craig Cairns was introduced to an organization called "Food For the Poor".  This group, besides the obvious, also works with organizations all over the world, in an effort to raise funds to build homes for the impoverished of South America.  You can learn more about them by visiting their website at http://www.foodforthepoor.org on the worldwide web.

The troop decided to take on the challenge to raise $2600.00 in an effort to build not one, but two homes for impoverished families in Nicaragua.  After working very hard raising funds via car washes, outings, and getting donations from local businesses, fraternal groups, and local citizens, we reached our goal.

We are proud and happy to say,  two homes have been built with our money in Condega, Nicaragua and they are now providing the Picado Family and the Arauz Family with safe and sturdy housing.

This is home number NHDC 017 and this home was provided to the Picado family.

This is home number NHDC 018 and this home was provided to the Arauz family.

Troop 120 would like to thank everyone involved in making this great gift possible.  Your generosity is appreciated.
